UPRTOU PhD Eligibility Criteria 2026

Can­di­dates apply­ing for PhD admis­sion must ful­fil the pre­scribed post­grad­u­ate-lev­el qual­i­fi­ca­tion requirements.

Master’s Degree Eligibility

Can­di­dates should have either:

• A 2‑year Mas­ter’s degree after a 3‑year Bach­e­lor’s degree, or
• A 1‑year Mas­ter’s degree after a 4‑year Bach­e­lor’s degree.

The can­di­date must gen­er­al­ly have secured at least 55% marks in the qual­i­fy­ing degree.

A 5% relax­ation in the min­i­mum marks is applic­a­ble to eli­gi­ble cat­e­gories such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD and EWS, as spec­i­fied in the admis­sion information.

Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree

Can­di­dates enter­ing the PhD pro­gramme with a 4‑year Bach­e­lor’s degree are required to have 75% marks, with the applic­a­ble 5% relax­ation for eli­gi­ble reserved categories.

M.Phil. Qualification

Can­di­dates hold­ing an M.Phil. degree should have at least 55% marks.

A 5% relax­ation is avail­able to eli­gi­ble reserved cat­e­gories as prescribed.
