SSC Stenographer 2026 Application Fee

The exam­i­na­tion fee can be paid through Deb­it Card, Cred­it Card, Net Bank­ing or E‑Challan, as per­mit­ted by SSC.

SSC Stenographer 2026 Age Limit

Age cal­cu­lat­ed as on 01 August 2026:

• Min­i­mum Age: 18 Years
• Grade D Max­i­mum Age: 27 Years
• Grade C Max­i­mum Age: 30 Years

Age relax­ation will be avail­able to eli­gi­ble can­di­dates accord­ing to SSC rules.

The recruit­ment is being con­duct­ed for a total of 731 vacan­cies for Stenog­ra­ph­er Grade C and Grade D posts.

SSC Stenographer 2026 Eligibility

Can­di­dates must have passed the 10+2 Inter­me­di­ate exam­i­na­tion or equiv­a­lent from a rec­og­nized board/institution.

SSC Stenographer Skill Test

Can­di­dates who qual­i­fy in the Com­put­er Based Exam­i­na­tion are called for the Stenog­ra­phy Skill Test.

Grade C

• Stenog­ra­phy speed: 100 words per minute
• Dic­ta­tion dura­tion: 10 min­utes
• Eng­lish tran­scrip­tion: 40 min­utes
• Hin­di tran­scrip­tion: 55 min­utes

Grade D

• Stenog­ra­phy speed: 80 words per minute
• Dic­ta­tion dura­tion: 10 min­utes
• Eng­lish tran­scrip­tion: 50 min­utes
• Hin­di tran­scrip­tion: 65 min­utes

The skill test is qual­i­fy­ing in nature, and can­di­dates must meet the pre­scribed require­ments for the grade and lan­guage selected.

How to Prepare for SSC Stenographer 2026

For effec­tive prepa­ra­tion, can­di­dates should divide their study time among all three CBT sections:

• Prac­tice Rea­son­ing ques­tions reg­u­lar­ly to improve speed and accuracy.
• Read news­pa­pers and cur­rent affairs for Gen­er­al Aware­ness.
• Give extra atten­tion to Eng­lish, as it con­tains 100 questions.
• Prac­tice pre­vi­ous-year SSC Stenog­ra­ph­er ques­tion papers.
• Take reg­u­lar mock tests and ana­lyze incor­rect answers.
• Start dai­ly short­hand prac­tice well before the Skill Test.
• Work on typing/transcription speed in both Hin­di and Eng­lish if required.
