The Cen­tral Board of Sec­ondary Edu­ca­tion (CBSE) has announced the reopen­ing of the online appli­ca­tion process for the Cen­tral Teacher Eli­gi­bil­i­ty Test (CTET) Sep­tem­ber 2026. The CTET Sep­tem­ber 2026 appli­ca­tion win­dow has been reopened from 25 August 2026 to 01 Sep­tem­ber 2026.

CTET September 2026 Application Fee

The appli­ca­tion fee depends on the can­di­date’s cat­e­go­ry and whether the can­di­date applies for one paper or both papers.

CTET Paper I Eligibility – Primary Stage

Paper I is intend­ed for can­di­dates who wish to teach Class­es I to V.

Can­di­dates may be eli­gi­ble through var­i­ous edu­ca­tion­al and teacher-train­ing qual­i­fi­ca­tion com­bi­na­tions pre­scribed by the applic­a­ble NCTE rules and CTET infor­ma­tion bulletin.

Some of the qual­i­fi­ca­tion routes include:

  1. Senior Sec­ondary or equiv­a­lent with at least 50% marks and passed or appear­ing in the final year of a 2‑year Diplo­ma in Ele­men­tary Edu­ca­tion (D.El.Ed.).
  2. Senior Sec­ondary or equiv­a­lent with at least 45% marks and passed or appear­ing in the final year of a 2‑year Diplo­ma in Ele­men­tary Edu­ca­tion in accor­dance with applic­a­ble NCTE regulations.
  3. Senior Sec­ondary or equiv­a­lent with at least 50% marks and passed or appear­ing in the final year of a 4‑year Bach­e­lor of Ele­men­tary Edu­ca­tion (B.El.Ed.).
  4. Senior Sec­ondary or equiv­a­lent with at least 50% marks and passed or appear­ing in a 2‑year Diplo­ma in Edu­ca­tion (Spe­cial Edu­ca­tion).

There are addi­tion­al eli­gi­bil­i­ty routes. Can­di­dates should check the lat­est CTET Infor­ma­tion Bul­letin before apply­ing. The offi­cial CTET eli­gi­bil­i­ty page states that appli­cants must sat­is­fy the pre­scribed min­i­mum qual­i­fi­ca­tions and that final eli­gi­bil­i­ty is ver­i­fied by the con­cerned recruit­ing or appoint­ing authority.

CTET Paper II Eligibility – Elementary Stage

Paper II is for can­di­dates who wish to teach Class­es VI to VIII.

Eli­gi­bil­i­ty routes include:

  1. Grad­u­a­tion with a passed or appear­ing 2‑year Diplo­ma in Ele­men­tary Edu­ca­tion.
  2. Grad­u­a­tion or Post-Grad­u­a­tion with the required marks and passed or appear­ing in B.Ed.
  3. Grad­u­a­tion with at least 45% marks and B.Ed. qual­i­fi­ca­tion as per applic­a­ble NCTE regulations.
  4. Senior Sec­ondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appear­ing in a 4‑year B.El.Ed.
  5. Senior Sec­ondary with at least 50% marks and passed or appear­ing in a 4‑year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
  6. Grad­u­a­tion with at least 50% marks and passed or appear­ing in B.Ed. (Spe­cial Education).
  7. Oth­er qual­i­fi­ca­tion com­bi­na­tions spec­i­fied in the offi­cial CTET Infor­ma­tion Bulletin.

CTET September 2026 Paper Selection

Can­di­dates can choose the paper accord­ing to the teach­ing lev­el for which they want to qualify:
