1. Choose the word that is most similar in meaning to “Prudent”.

Explanation: Prudent means wise, careful and sensible in making decisions.

2. Choose the correct word to complete the sentence: “Neither the manager nor the employees ___ willing to accept the proposal.”

Explanation: With “neither…nor”, the verb agrees with the subject nearer to it. “Employees” is plural, so “were” is correct.

3. Identify the correctly spelt word.

Explanation: The correct spelling is “Accommodation”.

4. Choose the antonym of “Scarce”.

Explanation: Scarce means available in small quantities. Abundant means available in large quantities.

5. Select the correct passive voice: “The committee approved the proposal.”

Explanation: The simple past active voice changes to simple past passive: “The proposal was approved by the committee.”

6. If P is the brother of Q, Q is the sister of R, and R is the father of S, how is P related to S?

Explanation: Q and R are siblings. P is Q’s brother, so P is also R’s brother. Since R is S’s father, P is S’s uncle.

7. Find the next number in the series: 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, ?

Explanation: The numbers are consecutive squares: 2², 3², 4², 5², 6². Therefore the next number is 7² = 49.

8. If BANK is coded as CBOL, how will LOAN be coded using the same pattern?

Explanation: Each letter is moved one position forward in the alphabet: L→M, O→P, A→B, N→O. Therefore, LOAN becomes MPBO.

9. A person walks 6 km east, turns left and walks 4 km, then turns left and walks 6 km. In which direction is the person from the starting point?

Explanation: The person moves east 6 km, north 4 km and west 6 km. The east-west movements cancel, leaving the person 4 km north of the starting point.

10. In a row of 35 students, Rahul is 12th from the left. What is his position from the right?

Explanation: Position from right = Total students − Position from left + 1 = 35 − 12 + 1 = 24.

11. If 20% of a number is 80, what is the number?

Explanation: 20% of x = 80, so x = 80 × 100 / 20 = 400.

12. The ratio of two numbers is 3 : 5 and their sum is 64. What is the larger number?

Explanation: Total parts = 3 + 5 = 8. One part = 64/8 = 8. Larger number = 5 × 8 = 40.

13. A shopkeeper buys an article for ₹1,200 and sells it for ₹1,380. What is the profit percentage?

Explanation: Profit = ₹1,380 − ₹1,200 = ₹180. Profit percentage = 180/1200 × 100 = 15%.

14. The average of five numbers is 28. If four of the numbers are 20, 25, 30 and 35, what is the fifth number?

Explanation: Total sum = 28 × 5 = 140. Sum of four numbers = 110. Fifth number = 140 − 110 = 30.

15. A train covers 240 km in 4 hours. What is its average speed?

Explanation: Speed = Distance ÷ Time = 240 ÷ 4 = 60 km/h.

16. Find the simple interest on ₹4,000 at 5% per annum for 3 years.

Explanation: SI = P × R × T / 100 = 4000 × 5 × 3 / 100 = ₹600.

17. A sum of ₹2,000 is invested at 10% simple interest per annum for 2 years. What is the total amount?

Explanation: SI = 2000 × 10 × 2 / 100 = ₹400. Amount = ₹2,000 + ₹400 = ₹2,400.

18. If 3x + 7 = 28, what is the value of x?

Explanation: 3x + 7 = 28 → 3x = 21 → x = 7.

19. A can complete a work in 12 days and B can complete the same work in 18 days. In how many days can they complete it together?

Explanation: Combined work rate = 1/12 + 1/18 = 5/36. Therefore, time = 36/5 = 7.2 days.

20. A number is increased by 20% and then decreased by 20%. What is the net percentage change?

Explanation: Assume the number is 100. After a 20% increase it becomes 120. A 20% decrease on 120 gives 96. Therefore, the net change is a 4% decrease.
