DNA (Deoxyribo nucleic acid)

  1. It is Deoxyribonucleic acid
  2. DNA is double Standard
  3. DNA has Deoxyribose sugar
  4. It is a long polymer. It has a deoxyribose and phosphate backbone having four distinct bases : Thymine, Adenine, cytosine & Guanine
  5. DNA replicates on its own it is self replicating
  6. DNA responsible for storing & Transferring genetic information

RNA (Ribo Nucleic acid)

  1. It is ribonucleic acid
  2. RNA is single stranded
  3. RNA has ribose sugar
  4. It is a polymer with a ribose and phosphate backbone with four distinct bases: Uracil, cytosine,Adenine and guanine
  5. RNA does not replicate on its own. It is synthesized from DNA when required
  6. RNA directly codes for amino acids and acts as a messenger between DNA and ribosomes to make protein.
