The Staff Selec­tion Com­mis­sion (SSC) has released the noti­fi­ca­tion for the SSC Stenog­ra­ph­er Grade C and Grade D Exam­i­na­tion 2026. The recruit­ment is being con­duct­ed for can­di­dates who have passed the 10+2 lev­el and are inter­est­ed in stenog­ra­ph­er posts under var­i­ous gov­ern­ment departments.

The online appli­ca­tion process was com­plet­ed from 24 April 2026 to 15 May 2026. Can­di­dates who suc­cess­ful­ly applied should note that the Com­put­er Based Exam­i­na­tion (CBT) is sched­uled from 09 to 12 Sep­tem­ber 2026.

The applic­a­ble exam­i­na­tion fee can be paid through Deb­it Card, Cred­it Card, Net Bank­ing or E‑Challan, as per­mit­ted by SSC.

SSC Stenographer Age Limit

Age will be cal­cu­lat­ed as on 01 August 2026.

Grade D

• Min­i­mum Age: 18 Years
• Max­i­mum Age: 27 Years

Grade C

• Min­i­mum Age: 18 Years
• Max­i­mum Age: 30 Years

Age relax­ation will be avail­able to eli­gi­ble can­di­dates accord­ing to the rules pre­scribed by the Staff Selec­tion Commission.

SSC Stenographer Vacancy 2026

The SSC Stenog­ra­ph­er Grade C and D Exam­i­na­tion 2026 has been announced for a total of 731 posts.

Educational Qualification

Can­di­dates apply­ing for SSC Stenog­ra­ph­er Grade C or Grade D should have:

• Passed the 10+2 Inter­me­di­ate exam­i­na­tion from a rec­og­nized board in India.
• Can­di­dates must meet all oth­er eli­gi­bil­i­ty require­ments spec­i­fied in the offi­cial SSC notification.

The qual­i­fi­ca­tion should be com­plet­ed by the pre­scribed cut-off date men­tioned in the recruit­ment notice.

SSC Stenographer Selection Process

The selec­tion process gen­er­al­ly includes the fol­low­ing stages:

1. Com­put­er Based Exam­i­na­tion (CBT)
2. Stenog­ra­phy Skill Test
3. Doc­u­ment Verification
4. Final selec­tion as per SSC rules

Can­di­dates must qual­i­fy in the required exam­i­na­tion and skill test stages to be con­sid­ered for appointment.

SSC Stenographer Skill Test

Can­di­dates short­list­ed for the skill test will be required to demon­strate their stenog­ra­phy and tran­scrip­tion skills.

Grade D Transcription Time

• Eng­lish: 50 minutes
• Hin­di: 65 minutes

Grade C Transcription Time

• Eng­lish: 40 minutes
• Hin­di: 55 minutes
