Important Points About ODD are :

  • Com­pact discs (CD) are opti­cal stor­age devices used to store and dis­trib­ute var­i­ous forms of data such as soft­ware, music and movies.
  • A CD dri­ve is required to read or write data from or to a CD.
  • Dig­i­tal Ver­sa­tile Disk or Dig­i­tal Video Disk (DVD) is a form of dig­i­tal storage.
  • The stor­age capac­i­ty of a DVD is 4.7 GB which is approx­i­mate­ly sev­en times that of a CD.
  • DVD dri­ves can read dif­fer­ent types of DVDs.
  • Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a next-gen­er­a­tion opti­cal disc format.
  • While eval­u­at­ing a DVD-ROM dri­ve for your PC, you need to check the dri­ve’s per­for­mance spec­i­fi­ca­tions i.e. speed and deter­mine the type of inter­face require for the dri­ve to con­nect to the PC.
  • The speed of a DVD dri­ve is denot­ed by mul­ti­ple of X and 1X = 1352.54 KB/s
